I have been living in Israel for more than a year. A most important year in my life because it is the most that I have changed...for the better, I believe! My son Ben was born here...my daughter Rachel, who just turned 3 last month, became the beautiful and strong person that she is now because of this one year of complete overhaul in both her inner and outer worlds. I am not the same person I was back in Asia spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally.
Getting used to the way of life has been a struggle for me not just because everything is totally different from what I am used to but because somehow I chose to defy the norm for as long as I can. For example, unlike other immigrants, I didnt learn the language in a formal way but rather chose to do it slowly and in my own phase. I think it is the effect of being too homesick to even try, too proud to change and simply feeling lost.
This blog is actually a big break for me because through it, I can explore and learn more about Israel in my own way and get to share it. Thanks to my brother Tonton for introducing this medium to me and for creating all the platforms and making the necessary arrangements and editing for it to work. He is the greatest techie for me!
My aim in creating this blog is to write what the travel brochures, books or tours miss out on. I will try to bring a different light to the country in contrast to what is being written regularly in the news by sharing my day-to-day living as a mother, wife, in-law, and as a tourist/local. It will feature other equally breath-taking places aside from the holy sites and the many quirks and uniqueness of the Israeli people: their food, culture and traditions, religious practices and lifestyle.
This blog is dedicated to all the people, places and events that has shaped my coming to terms with living in Israel...specially to Haim, who has never failed me.
